  The New York Yankees and their fanbase can only hope that the sweeping of the Toronto Blue Jays will serve as momentum going forward, as Aaron Boone and the entire Yankee organization will have to continue riding on their newly found winning streak to start another homestand. In game 3 of the series against the Jays, Giancarlo Stanton and the Yanks found themselves making franchise history, as the Thursday night baseball matinee between the American League rivals unfolded to have the pinstriped squad come from behind to defeat the Canadian ball-squad in a third consecutive game. According to STATS, it marked the first time the Yankees had ever swept a three-plus-game road series after trailing in the seventh inning or later in each of the competitions.

  To sum up what went down last night, the Yankees were trailing....

    • 5-3 in the seventh inning of game one;
    • 2-1 in the seventh inning of game two;
    • And 4-3 in the seventh inning of game three.

  When it was all said and done, the Yankees found themselves on the winning end of a sweep.

  Stanton collected his 13th homer of the season, as he put his team on his back and power  a two-run blast into the seats, Chris Gittens contributed in his eight career game by later plating  three runs. First off, with a two-run single in the seventh that gave the Yankees a 7-4 lead. Then, in the ninth, with a sacrifice fly that put New York ahead by an 8-4 score.

  Eventually that 8-4 score became all that the Yanks needed to complete the sweep of the pesky Jays.

  Oh yeah, lets not forget the other slugger besides Stanton, Aaron Judge had a pretty solid night against the Jays as well. The towering outfielder contributed a single and walk , but if anyone ever looks back at this game, Judge's defensive efforts will most likely be a highlight of the night. The towering righty had his most notable contribution to the victory, as he tracked a home-run ball and hung onto it for a robbing catch in the sixth inning that kept the Jays' from advancing on the scoreboard.

  All-and-all, the 3-game set on the road against the Jays was a significant victory for the Yankees. As the team get set for another homestand at Yankees Stadium, will they continue to build off their road trip's momentum to continue their newest winning streak to get atop the American League East division ?
