Coming into today's game against the Tampa Bay Rays, the Yanks are looking to be an overall better baseball organization. When the New York Yankees started their 2021 season, the Bronx baseball squad was off to a very disappointing start in their fans' eyes, but lately, they have definitely turned their game around on the baseball diamond.

They collected a 7-2 record on their most recent home stand stretch and headed to the Tampa Bay area last night to start a 3-game set against the Rays. Surely enough the Yankees started up something up alright on the road series. They started the series at Tropicana Field on the right note by gaining momentum in the A.L. East standings by building off of their 7-2 home stand hot streak. Aaron Boone and his Yankee squad went into first game of the three game set by putting their offense to work behind Jordan Montgomery to gain a 3-1 win over the pesky Rays.

The Rays have emerged as a true rival of the Yanks , as the Tampa Bay baseball team have given them  trouble for a top spot in the A.L. East for multiple seasons now. Nevertheless, the Yankees put together the 3-1 win over their division foe in game 1 of this series and managed to move up to the 2nd-place spot in the division for the first time this season.

With the Yanks-Rays getting set for game two tonight, can the Yanks get a series victory to position themselves to run away with the A.L. East?

Currently, when you take a look at the 2021 American League East standings, you see the Red Sox atop the division with a 22-15 record, the Yankees are close behind in second place with a 19-16 record as they gain that 3-1 victory in Tampa Bay. The Rays however lost their number two spot in the division and fall all the way to fourth place, which opened up a third place spot for the 18-16 record Toronto Blue Jays team.
