The New York Yankees improve to 12-14 with a 5-7 home record and a 7-7 away record by starting their 9-game home stand by going to work offensively against the Detroit Tigers' pitching staff. While the Cole-Higgy tandem went to work through six inning against the Tigers' bats and put up zeros across the scoreboard, allowing the Yankee offense to put together productive at-bats all night long.
While their were a lot of productive at-bats all night to lead the Yanks to a DET 0-NYY 1, there were three batters that stood out. After DJ LeMahieu hit a grounder to 1st-base to start the game off, Giancarlo Stanton came up in the two hole and blistered a double pass the infielders, which improved his hitting stretch to an 8-game hitting streak. Judge joined the party by hitting his 11th-RBI which came via his 6th home run of the season. That homer was his second grand slam of his career.
The Yankee offense just kept hitting and the pitching staff accumulated 18-strikeouts, which included an 87-pitched 6-innings of work from Cole. Can the Yankees' offense continue smashing the baseball with Jameson Taillon taking the hill this afternoon?
