Going into the offseason and now as the 2021 baseball season is about to get underway, theNew York Yankees and the team's fanbase have to worry about the constant injury factor that has been a consist factor over multiple seasons. Being an injured athlete is an unfortunate part of any sport, but as an athlete the fortunate part about hitting rock bottom is, the only direction you can possible go is upward as you are working your way back into your best shape.

It may just be early March, but one guy who is showing promising signs of working his way back from an injury is Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton, who suffered a grade 1 right calf strain doing outfield drills prior to a Yankees’ spring training game on Feb. 26 is now showing signs that indicates that he will be ready for Opening Day action. As a matter of fact, the slugger is already putting up some impressive StatCast number during his spring training.

Yankee fans know when Stanton is healthy, he has the capability to put his team on his back and carry them to the finish line. He definitely showed signs of that type of player during Sunday's spring training game against Joe Girardi and the Philadelphia Phillies

Stanton certainly put on a show during the weekend matinee at George M. Steinbrenner Field, as he produced a double to left for his first spring training hit of 2021. The hit was just one of many that the Yankee lineup produce to secure a 4-0 victory over the Phils and their former manager. The double that Stanton produced was certainly StatCast worthy due to its exit velocity measurement.

As the ball jumped off of Stanton's bat, it had an exit velocity of 109.4 mph. The Yankee DH then followed the hot shot to left field that was delivered by Zack Wheeler by drilling  a double to deep center that he teed off againstIvan Nova at 109.8 mph in the fifth.

DJ LeMahieu, the reigning batting champ said after the game that, "He had a couple of missiles today. That’s Big G for you there.”

With a handful of Yankee players dealing with injuries, it is great that Stanton is one of the injured athletes that is showing signs of a healthy season to come as he is producing in spring training games. With Opening Day just around the corner, everyone rooting for the Yankees can only hope that the injury bugs leave the team alone as Stanton and everyone within the pinstriped organization prepares for a 162-game season that kickoff on April 1st.
